Learning Goals

• Functional Group, be able to fully name the following:
• Hydrocarbons (Alkanes, Alkenes, Alkynes)
• Alcohols, Carboxylic Acids, Aldehydes, and Ketones
• Amines
• Functional Groups to recognize by name and structure:
• Esters and other Carboxylic acid derivatives
• Nitro, Amides, and Nitriles
• Provide the IUPAC Name and line structure for unbranched alkanes up to 10 carbons
• Identify primary, secondary, and tertiary carbons in a given molecule
• Identify and name cis/trans isomerism in disubstituted alkenes
